HISTORY

  • How LADA Started: 2006

LADA has been in operation since 2006, under the initial name of Atuguba and Associates (A&A). It originally began with the Team Leader, Prof. Raymond A. Atuguba, a Professor at the School of Law, University of Ghana and a few personnel who were primarily students.

  • Start-up Projects

LADA provided unique services in the area of research, consultative strategies, training, legislative reform, facilitation of regulatory processes and advocacy. LADA also provided legal counseling and representation for mostly pro bono clients.

  • The Zeal To Do More: 2009

A major re-structuring of the company was undertaken in 2009. This saw the change in name of the organisation from Atuguba and Associates, to Law and Development Associates (LADA) with Atuguba and Associates as the Law Firm. An office space was procured at this time.

  • The Fallow Period: 2010 - 2011

Dr. Raymond Atuguba was appointed to serve as the Executive Secretary to the Constitution Review Commission. The engagement of a large number of LADA staff made it challenging for LADA to run an effective organisation, resulting in a two-year fallow period, where a lean core staff was maintained at Okponglo to keep the office functioning.

  • Bouncing Back Into Full Action: 2011

In the last quarter of 2011, when it was clear that the Constitution review project was near completion, LADA engaged in a comprehensive process to undertake a major organisational and human resource restructuring to realign its activities, in order to operate to its full capacity.

  • The New LADA: 2012

The new LADA brand emerged with the re-engagement of staff, refurbishment and streamlining of human resources and operations. LADA also emerged with the registration of a holding company (LADA Group of Companies) to administer all the existing companies and all newly formed subsidiaries, which included LADA institute, LADA Innovation and Creativity, and LADA Oil and Gas.
